The Exiled Body is series of life drawings, which erase the descriptive portrayal of the body through technology and repetition.
Working within the medium of digital paintings, drawing, and installation Rochester’s work often tells stories about space and movement; artistic practice and the body.
The Exiled Body challenges viewers' conceptual thinking as each drawing is made up of a series of projected lines. A step toward figurative works, this also marks a break in tradition from Rochester's previous works. What is revealed in each image is the depiction of the human body that defies recognition and identification.
The body in its knowable form is exiled.

The history, value, and meaning of the colour blue are an interesting and continually evolving concept. Theories associated with peace, melancholy, the infinite, nobility, and democracy have dominate Western colour symbolism and artists such as Picasso and Christo & Jeanne-Claude have gravitated toward the colour to express their skill and emotion.
Each work consequently sets to portray the photographer’s observation to the additive primary colour blue, exploring the concepts, meanings, and effects associated. The artists are then asked to describe their photograph to the viewer through written word.
