Open Studio Artist in Residence until Sunday 3 April

HOLLY COOPER is a dance artist whose work has been produced in NZ, UK and Australia since 1982. A professional performer for fifteen years she now works primarily as a dance-maker directing, choreographing and producing works that prioritise the individual body-mind whilst employing a collaborative methodology. Holly is currently a PhD candidate at Victoria University conducting research in contemporary modern dance practice and performance.

Based in Melbourne since 1995, Holly is also the artistic director of una soma. This is an independent ensemble focusing on site-specific, cross-arts dance based work that engage in research, education, and production across a range of body practices and artistic disciplines.

Whilst in residence Holly will be creating the performance work Leaning into the Light with una soma to be presented at the gallery later in 2009. This work utilises all three floors of the gallery, structurally echoing the triptych of themes 'self to self', 'self to other', 'self to the world'.

Holly makes herself available to the public as often as possible. In some circumstances interruption is not appropriate, in which case a sign will indicate so, at all other times your discussion and questions are most welcome. If you wish to make an appointment to ensure that Holly is available when you visit, please do not hesitate to contact the Gallery on the details below.
