The Human Emotion Project (HEP)

INTERNATIONAL LAUNCH

Featuring a screening of works by Australian artist Neil Howe and a reading by Meg Oakley.

Wednesday 25 February - March 8 2009
Opening Night: Thursday 26 Feb 6pm

The 2009 International Launch of Human Emotion Project will consist of a broad range of film and video artists, all seeking to externalise the complex force emotions play within humanity. Emotions are inherently difficult to illuminate. How does one describe fear? We know it when we feel it but how can we share our experience of it?

Drawn together by the art that they share via the Internet, these select artists approach the internal workings that exist in all humans through moving image and sound. Split into segments, each artist will screen possibilities beyond what can be accomplished through language over a two-week period.

Artists include:
| Neil Howe (Aus) | Meg Oakley (Aus) | Glenn Church (UK) | Anders Weberg (Swe) | Cristina Valenca Limeira (USA) | Bill Millett (UK) | Mads ljungdahl (Den) | Alison Williams (RSA) | Debbie Douez (Esp) | Jose Drummond (Prt) | Niclas Hallberg (Swe) | Robertina Sebjanič & Nika Autor (Svn) | Tatjana de Luxe (Ger) | Wilfried Agricola de Cologne (Ger) | Adamo Macri (Can) | Michael Chang (Den) | Alicia Felberbaum (UK) | Alberto Guerreiro (Prt) | Ulf Kristiansen (Nor) | Christy Walsh (USA) | Manfred Marburger (UK) | Dave Swensen (USA) | Daniel Chavez (USA) | Masha Yozefpolsky (Isr) | Behjat Omer Kurdistan (UK) | Hakan Akcura (Swe) | Osvaldo Cibils (Ury) | Mike Hinc (UK) | Tristan Mory (Fra) | Richard Jochum (NYC USA) | Irina Gabiani (Lux) | Simone Stoll (Ger) | Wilma Kun (Bra) | Anna Jaros (Pol) | Anthony Elliot (UK) | Vienne Chan (HKG, Can) | Sue Pam-Grant (RSA) | Michael Ebert & Axel Ebert(Ebros) for the Faticart Group (Ger) | Gaia Bartolini (Ita) | Nicole Rademacher (USA) |

This project was initiated and is managed by South African artist Alison Williams. It was born online through an artist networking website to which all of the artists belong.

The FOX and the CROW
Garments, Jewellery and Visuals. A group Installation.

Works by Nicole Collins, Amina McPhee & Rhiannon Smith
Curated by Stacy Jewell

Wednesday 25 February - March 15 2009
Opening Night: Thursday 26 Feb 6pm
The Fox and the Crow is an installation that follows the artists exploration into the evolution of jewellery and garment design. Using traditional techniques in unexpected ways, this exhibition moves in a strange, poetic fantasy-world.

The Fox and the Crow is infused with sculptural characteristics that transform garments into fascinating installation pieces. Inspiration first came to being through Aesopʼs fable The Fox and the Crow and the inherent characteristics of animals and creatures of fantasy. These fables display inherent idealistic forms which have been translated into 3D, garment inspired objects.

Includes visuals by Chris Cork, James Harmsworth, Dimitri Kalagas and Michael Watson.

Hold still and don’t tell the truth.
Hold them still and lie to yourself.

Preserve this moment,
Catch the temporary.
Take a Photograph.
Preserve the still.

I enjoy colours, music and weirdness… among other things.

When asked to make a statement, I’m usually confronted by an officer of the law. In this case, I’ll make that statement when I come down to the station with you and we have a good chat about whatever it is you would like to know about the incident/situation/crime/lack of appropriate tact.
