Beauty in the Beast
Coral East

2 - 20 September 2009
Artist in Attendance 3pm Sunday 13th September

Photographer Coral East examines beauty and pain in a series of photographs installed in Ruby's Corner. "Beauty in the Beast is my endeavour to display the pure beauty in the darker aspects of life", says East, who cites 18th Century France as a source of inspiration. "Noble women were required to wear corsets, often referred to as a torture device, even during pregnancy," she says. "Yet most of us can see the beauty of the corset."
