Inspired by the inexorable force of the human aging process, JOY is the latest experiment by emerging duo Fiona Bryant and Kate Stanley.
On the last Wednesday of every month, the next developmental stage of JOY is offered to The Wednesday Project audience. Through these performances, Kate Stanley & Fiona Bryant aim to uncover the idea of choreography and receive feedback through discussions that follow. JOY embodies an attitude of pliability in the context of live performance, as there exists the potential for far greater fullness in the experiences of both the performer and audience. In this fullness conceptions of dance are challenged, creating a provocative and unbounded environment.
Each artist has her own concerns informing this process, some quite similar, others poles apart. This ongoing dialogue and tension of sorts is both stimulating and challenging, facilitating the emergence of a number of exciting new works.
For the next instalment on Wednesday 28th October, audiences will be offered a unique chance to learn more about the making of JOY, with a Q&A session and archive footage on show.
Exhibitions will also be open for viewing.
